Health Net of California, a wholly owned subsidiary of Health Net, confirmed that it has been selected as a Covered California health plan in the Covered California individual health insurance exchange. The selection means Health Net health plans for individuals and their family members will be offered in many areas of the state when Covered California enrollment begins. Covered California is expected to begin enrolling beneficiaries on Oct. 1, 2013, and benefits are expected to become effective Jan. 1, 2014. Health Net (HNT) and Molina Healthcare (MOH) were two of the health insurers selected to offer plans on the state's healthcare exchange, according to The LA Times. The companies selected agreed to reduce their profit margins to 2%-3%, the newspaper added. The exchange, which is slated to begin operations next year, is mandated by Obamacare. Reference Link | |
