The New York Post reported yesterday that Federal Trade Commission Chair Edith Ramirez will meet with minority and consumer activists to hear their pyramid concerns about Herbalife. More than a dozen activists from around the country will meet with Ramirez on February 5, according to Brent Wilkes, executive director of the League of United Latin American Citizens. Wilkes says "Our main message is that Herbalife is defrauding hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S. every year, and the FTC must act to protect our communities from further abuse." 14:04 EDTHLFAckman will continue Herbalife short position as needed, Bloomberg reports
Bill Ackman's hedge-fund Pershing Square said most of the Herbalife contracts it holds will expire next year and that it will extend their terms by "paying additional premiums if it is necessary to do so," according to Bloomberg, citing Ackman's quarterly letter to investors. In the letter, Ackman said that the cost of holding a short position in options of Herbalife has dropped "substantially" after the company canceled its dividend, the report noted. Reference Link
