07:20 EDTGSKGlaxoSmithKline opens internal probe of bribery allegations, WSJ says
GlaxoSmithKline, which already is undertaking a broad investigation into its practices in the Middle East, is now investigating allegations that its employees bribed doctors in Jordan and Lebanon, reported The Wall Street Journal, citing company emails. In a statement, Glaxo said, "In total, we employ around 200 people in Jordan, Lebanon and Iraq in our pharmaceuticals operations and these allegations relate to a small number of individuals in these countries," and added that it is confident it does not have a systemic issue.
