E*TRADE Financial Corporation announced that its Board of Directors authorized the company to repurchase up to $800M of its common stock. The authorization is effective immediately and extends through March 31, 2017. "Today's announcement brings our fourth major capital deployment action in 2015, after having reduced and refinanced corporate debt, terminated wholesale funding obligations, and begun the process of growing our balance sheet to our targeted size of approximately $50 billion," said Paul Idzik, CEO. "It also marks the first time in more than eight years that the Company has returned capital to shareholders through a repurchase program - a natural next step to continue driving value for our owners, while providing us with the flexibility to evaluate further opportunities, should they arise."

Morgan Stanley (MS) Institutional Securities President Colm Kelleher cautioned that fixed-income markets "still seem subdued," according to Dow Jones, citing his comments at an investment conference. Morgan Stanley was among the banks that reported lower revenue from fixed-income, currency and commodities trading during the third quarter and Kelleher said he doesn't think "the fourth quarter is going to be much better," the report noted. Large bank peers to Morgan Stanley include Bank of America (BAC), Citi (C), Goldman Sachs (GS), JPMorgan (JPM), U.S. Bancorp (USB) and Wells Fargo (WFC). Reference Link

Blackstone (BX) announced that private equity funds it manages have agreed to sell GCA Services Group to a consortium of the Merchant Banking Division of Goldman Sachs (GS) and Thomas H. Lee Partners. The transaction is subject to customary closing conditions and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2016.

According to sources, Reuters reports that the private equity unit of Goldman Sachs (GS) and Thomas H. Lee Partners have agreed to buy GCA Services Group, a facility management company, from Blackstone (BX) for about $1B, including debt. Goldman and Thomas H. E-Trade Financial (ETFC) and Jefferies, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Leucadia (LUK), announced a retail alliance to provide E-Trade customers with access to Jefferies' underwritings of municipal securities. Through this relationship, E-Trade customers have access to offerings originated by the Jefferies Municipal Securities platform. This builds on both firms' current alliance, in which E-Trade customers have access to Jefferies' underwritings of U.S. IPO and follow-on equity offerings, in place since January 2014.
