General Motors announced three safety recalls and one non-compliance recall, all of which were reported to the NHTSA on Thursday, June 5. GM is recalling 57,512 model year 2014 Chevrolet Silverado LD, 2014 GMC Sierra LD and model year 2015 Silverado HD, Tahoe and Suburban and 2015 GMC Sierra HD and Yukon and Yukon XL models because the base radio may not work; 31,520 model year 2012 Buick Verano and Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic compact cars for a defect in which the shorting bar inside the dual stage driverís air bag may occasionally contact the air bag terminals; 61 model year 2013-2014 Chevrolet Spark and 2013 model year Buick Encores because the vehicles may have a condition in which the front passenger airbag end cap could separate from the airbag inflator; and 33 model year 2014 Chevrolet Corvettes in the U.S. because an internal short-circuit in the sensing and diagnostic module could disable frontal air bags, safety belt pretensioners and the Automatic Occupancy Sensing module.

The United Auto Workers announced that its international executive board has formally ratified the national labor agreement with General Motors. The union explained that, after its proposed agreement with GM was blocked by the union's skilled trades members, it held meetings with those members and subsequently presented their concerns to both union leadership and GM itself. Following those discussions, the parties agreed to changes that "protect core trades classifications and seniority rights," according to UAW. Reference Link
