The cost plus fixed-fee award has a potential value of $23.5M over five years if all options are exercised. Under this contract, General Dynamics will develop software that will serve as the foundation for the JEM Increment 2 System as well as the software architecture for the JEM science and technology prototype.

This $610.4M contract modification fully funds this ship which was awarded in 2013 as part of a multi-ship competition for DDG 51 class destroyers.
