12:01 EDTGD, KMPGeneral Dynamics NASSCO enters into contract with APT affiliate
General Dynamics NASSCO, a wholly owned subsidiary of General Dynamics (GD), has entered into a contract with an affiliate of American Petroleum Tankers, or APT, a wholly owned subsidiary of Kinder Morgan Energy Partners, L.P. (KMP), for the design and construction of an additional 50,000 deadweight ton LNG-conversion-ready product carrier with a 330,000 barrel cargo capacity. Construction is scheduled to begin in 4Q15, with delivery scheduled for 2Q17. This new tanker, supported by a long-term charter, will be constructed at the NASSCO shipyard in San Diego, meeting the Jones Act requirement that ships carrying cargo between U.S. ports be built in U.S. shipyards.

Kinder Morgan Energy Partners announced it has received a long-term transportation agreement from NOVA Chemicals Corporation to transport ethane and ethane-propane mixtures from the prolific Utica shale area through its previously announced Utica To Ontario Pipeline Access project, which is currently in a binding open season that began Sept. 5, 2014, and will close on Oct. 6, 2014. As part of the UTOPIA project, Kinder Morgan Cochin will develop, construct, own and operate a 240-mile, 12-inch diameter pipeline from Harrison County, Ohio, to Kinder Morganís Cochin Pipeline near Riga, Michigan, where the company would then move product eastward to Windsor, Ontario, Canada. UTOPIA would have an initial 50,000 barrels per day of capacity, which is expandable to more than 75,000 bpd. The approximately $500M pipeline project is expected to be in service by early 2018 with the receipt of timely permitting and regulatory approvals.

General Dynamics Electric Boat is being awarded a $310.77M modification to previously awarded contract for additional design agent, planning yard, engineering and technical support for active nuclear submarines. The efforts provide for drawings and related technical data; design change documentation; logistics technical data; configuration management; hull, mechanical and electrical engineering; submarine safety design review; non-propulsion plant electrical system engineering; propulsion plant engineering; maintenance engineering; refit/availability technical support; on-site support; configuration change program design and installation support; configuration change program material support; submarine technical trade support; training and facility support; research, development, test and evaluation program support; research and development submarine/submersibles support; miscellaneous special studies; temporary alteration support; modernization of submarine/submersible systems/subsystems; and affordability/cost reduction technical support. Work is expected to be completed by September 2016.

General Dynamics Advanced Information Systems, a business unit of General Dynamics, was awarded a $16.2M contract by the U.S. Navy to produce Type-3 Advanced Mission Computers for the F/A-18 E/A-18G Super Hornet aircraft. Since 2002 General Dynamics has produced, tested and delivered the F/A-18 AMC, which serves as the nerve center of the Super Hornet and provides the Navy with situational awareness and combat systems control. This contract will be performed primarily at the General Dynamics facility in Bloomington, Minnesota. This contract will be completed by March 2016.
