Hill International announced that it has received a contract from the University of Connecticut to provide project management oversight services on an as-needed basis for projects on the University's main campus at Storrs, the five regional campuses and UConn Health in Farmington. The three-year contract has an estimated value to Hill of approximately $2.0M. Pursuant to the contract, Hill will be providing project management oversight, construction inspection and owner's representation for various projects as assigned. Responsibilities may include project oversight and management for design, preconstruction, construction administration and construction activities, coordination of building inspections, scheduling, estimating, documenting and reporting. Hill may also be providing technical assistance in budget development and documentation, management and reporting to include all design, preconstruction, construction and occupancy activities.

Sterling Construction announced that it was awarded $26.3M project by the Harris County Toll Road Authority in Houston. The project consists of work on the Hardy Toll Road, where Texas Sterling will replace conventional toll collection facilities with automated ‘toll tag’ facilities. Approximately 35% of the project will be performed by pre-qualified subcontractors covered by surety bonds, which helps to guarantee performance and completion as specified in the contract terms, and reduces construction-related risk to the project owner and to Sterling. In addition, the project scope includes enhancements to exit and entrance ramps and is expected to commence in August 2015 and be completed by October 2016 with incentives for early completion.

Hill International announced that it has received a contract from affiliates of Lennar Urban and Macerich Development to provide construction management consultant services in connection with the development at Candlestick Point in San Francisco. The $1B project will be developed on a 24-acre parcel that is the location of the now-demolished Candlestick Park, former home of the San Francisco 49ers and San Francisco Giants. The new development, which will be a model of integrated planning and sustainable design, will include an urban open-air retail complex comprised of approximately 500,000 square-feet of gross leasable area featuring a premium retail outlet center. The retail complex will be supported by 2,400 parking spaces configured below the complex and in an adjacent parking structure. The complex also will feature 262 residential homes and an entertainment facility.

Wheeler Real Estate Investment Trust has closed on the acquisition of Sunshine Plaza Shopping Center for approximately $10.35M, or $93.08 per leasable square foot. The property was acquired using a combination of cash raised from the company’s March financing and debt.

Sterling Construction announced that it was the responsive low bidder on a $58.8M Texas Department of Transportation, or TxDOT projected 55 miles south of Dallas in Corsicana, Texas. The project consists of widening an 8.3 mile section of Interstate 45 from four lanes to six lanes. Additionally, the project scope includes the widening of seven existing bridges and the construction of three new bridges. The project is expected to commence in November 2015 and be completed by January 2017.
