American Airlines and Jetstar Japan have made a new codeshare agreement to enable American Airlines customers greater access to domestic Japanese destinations starting on October 22. American Airlines will place its 'AA' code on services operated by Jetstar Japan between Tokyo Narita International Airport and Fukuoka, Matsuyama, Okinawa, Osaka and Sapporo, with first flights under the codeshare starting October 26.

Forest Oil Corporation will commence mailing definitive proxy materials today in connection with the meeting to Forest shareholders for the purpose of voting on the previously announced business combination transaction between Sabine Oil & Gas LLC and Forest. Today’s action follows completion of the Securities and Exchange Commission review process last week. Forest has scheduled the special meeting of shareholders for November 20, 2014, to consider and vote on the proposed merger agreement with Sabine. Forest shareholders of record at the close of business on October 3, 2014, the record date, are entitled to notice of, and to vote at, the Forest special meeting. Closing of the transaction is subject to approval of shareholders of Forest, necessary regulatory approvals and other closing conditions. If approved, Forest anticipates the transaction to close in 2014.

The CDC announced earlier that a second health care worker who has been diagnosed with the Ebola virus traveled by air on October 13, a day before she reported symptoms. The CDC is reaching out to passengers who flew on Frontier Airlines flight 1143 Cleveland to Dallas/Fort Worth due to the proximity in time between the evening flight and first report of illness the following morning. Publicly traded companies in the space are trading lower following the report, including American Airlines (AAL) down 3.65% to $30.35, Delta Air Lines (DAL) down 4.39% to $31.37, JetBlue (JBLU) down 2.69% to $9.95, Southwest (LUV) down 2.5% to $29.24, and United Continental (UAL) down 5.5% to $40.66. Sees Q3 pre-tax margin 10%-12%. Sees Q3 CASM flat to up 2% ex-fuel, sees Q4 CASM up 2%-4% ex-fuel, sees FY14 CASM up 2%-4% ex-fuel. 2014 total system capacity is expected to be up approximately 2.2 percent vs. 2013 primarily due to more active aircraft and larger gauge aircraft replacing smaller gauge legacy aircraft. Full year mainline capacity is also expected to be up approximately 2.4 percent year-over-year, of which international capacity is expected to be up approximately 5 percent and domestic capacity is expected to be up approximately 1 percent vs. 2013. For the third quarter 2014, AAG expects to pay an average of between $2.95 and $3.00 per gallon of mainline jet fuel. The Company expects to take delivery of 84 mainline aircraft during 2014, consisting of 10 A319s, 43 A321s, 3 A332s, 20 B738s, 2 B788s and 6 B773s. In addition, the company expects to retire 6 A320s, 14 B734s, 19 B757s, 14 B762s and 26 MD80s by the end of 2014. In 2014, the Company expects to take delivery of 15 CRJ900 aircraft at its wholly owned subsidiary PSA Airlines. In addition, the Company’s partner airlines are expected to take delivery of 10 CRJ900 aircraft and 24 E175 aircraft. The Company expects to retire 40 ERJ140 aircraft and 2 Dash 8-100 aircraft.
