After Deere (DE) announced that it would lay off 60 employees at its Waterloo, Iowa, manufacturing facility, Wells Fargo says the layoffs are consistent with the firm's view that the farm equipment cycle is in decline. The firm thinks that farm equipment manufacturers' earnings power are poised to decline ,and it keeps Underperform ratings on Deere and AGCO (AGCO).

Quanta Services announced that PAR Electrical Contractors, or PAR, a Quanta Services company, was selected by Southern California Edison for the 500-kilovolt underground project for the Chino Hills segment of the Tehachapi Renewable Transmission Project. PAR's scope of work under the contract is the civil package, which includes all infrastructure installation, road borings, manholes, steel risers and right of way restoration. Quanta expects construction of the project to begin this quarter and anticipates completing the project during 1Q15.

Xylem announced that it has won a contract worth $19.6M to provide custom-made Flygt pumps for the Xayaburi run-of-river hydropower dam. The dam is located on the Mekong River in the town of Xayaburi. The construction of the dam allows water to be kept within the riverís course and minimally raises the water level to allow fish migration between the Upper and Lower Mekong, while providing electricity to about 1M people in Laos and 3M people in Thailand. Construction of the $3.5B hydropower dam began in 2012. Commercial operation is slated to begin in 2019.
