Fluor Corporation (FLR) announced that Shell (RDS.A) selected the firm as its engineering, procurement and construction contractor for Shell’s carbon capture facility for its flagship Carbon Capture and Storage Quest project at the Athabasca Oil Sands project in Alberta, Canada. The Quest project is being built on behalf of the Athabasca Oil Sands Project joint venture owners -- including Shell, Chevron (CVX) and Marathon Oil (MRO) -- with support from the Canadian and Alberta governments. Fluor booked the undisclosed contract value in Q3. |

As previously announced, Marathon Oil had engaged in discussions with respect to a potential sale of a portion of the company's 20% outside-operated interest in the Athabasca Oil Sands Project, or AOSP, in Alberta, Canada. An agreement was not reached with the prospective purchaser and negotiations have been terminated. Marathon Oil is not engaged in further discussions with respect to a potential sale of these assets; however, the Company will continue to evaluate ways to optimize its portfolio for profitable growth and to deliver value to shareholders. As such, the Company's stated goal of divesting between $1.5B-$3B in assets over the period of 2011 through 2013 remains intact. As of May 22, Marathon Oil has agreed upon or closed on approximately $1.3B in divestitures. |

Ecopetrol (EC) announces that it submitted the highest bids for three exploratory blocks in the 11th bidding round carried out yesterday by the ANP of Brazil in Rio de Janeiro. Ecopetrol has a 100% interest in the highest bids for the POT-M-567 and FZA-M-320 blocks and a 50% interest in the highest bid for the CE-M-715 block, which it submitted with Chevron (CVX) Brasil Ventures. The three blocks comprise an area of approximately 1,862 sq kilometers in the Potiguar, Foz de Amazonas and Ceara offshore basins. |
