Fluor awarded new mining contracts at Barrick Gold's Pasca-Lama site Fluor (FLR) announced that the company was awarded a series of follow-on contracts from Toronto-based Barrick Gold (ABX) for new scopes of work at the Pascua-Lama mining project located on the Argentina/Chile border. Fluor booked the undisclosed value into backlog in 4Q12. The new scopes of work included in the award are for overall project management and construction management for the Pascua location on the Chile side of the site, as well as construction management and construction for the Lama location on the Argentina side. The latter two scopes are part of a 50/50 joint venture with Argentinian contractor Techint.

Barrick Gold completes divestiture of Kanowna in Australia Barrick Gold announced it has completed the divestiture of its interest in the Kanowna Belle and Kundana mine operations in Western Australia to Northern Star Resources for total cash consideration of A$75M, subject to certain closing adjustments. As part of its portfolio optimization program, since mid-2013 Barrick has announced divestitures of high cost and non-core assets for total consideration of almost $1B, strengthening the overall quality of the company's portfolio.
