Fujitsu (FJTSY) will wind down chip production and sell two fabrication facilities over the next few years to U.S. and Taiwanese companies, the Nikkei reports. The company's semiconductor business generated sales of $3.13B in the year ended March 31. Fujitsu is reportedly going to sell its Mie plant to United Microelectronics (UMC). Reference Link

United Microelectronics plans to build its 12-inch fab in Xiamen, China and keep its 28/14nm production in Taiwan, reports DigiTimes. The company also said it will ramp up production capacity at its Fab 12A Phase 5 at Tainan Science Park, with plans to start installation production equipment in February 2015. Reference Link
