14:00 EDTFJTSY, UMCFujitsu to withdraw from semiconductor manufacturing, Nikkei reports
Fujitsu (FJTSY) will wind down chip production and sell two fabrication facilities over the next few years to U.S. and Taiwanese companies, the Nikkei reports. The company's semiconductor business generated sales of $3.13B in the year ended March 31. Fujitsu is reportedly going to sell its Mie plant to United Microelectronics (UMC). Reference Link

TSMC (TSM) and United Microelectronics (UMC) are ramping up wafer production capacity of 8-inch fabs in China, reports DigiTimes, according to industry sources. In response to the rising demand, TSMC plans to ramp up capacity to 110,000 units a month and UMC plans to expand its production capacity to 60,000 units a month. Reference Link
