Amazon is in talks with select merchants to include products in the Prime two-day shipping program without requiring them to be stored in Amazon warehouses, reports Re/code, citing multiple people familiar with the program. The report notes that Amazon previously required that all Prime products be stored in the company's own warehouses, indicating that the move is a concession to sellers in exchange for improving the Prime experience. Wal-Mart (WMT) is nearing the launch of a subscription fast-shipping service that will compete with Amazon Prime (AMZN), Amir Efrati of The Information reports, citing people involved with or briefed on the product. The service is an attempt to boost Wal-Mart's online business and should launch in the next few weeks after being pushed back for technical and other issues, Efrati adds.
