This morning Facebook (FB) announced that in its latest update to Facebook for Apple's (AAPL) iPad it is testing new ways to help people discover entertaining content. In a news release Facebook said, "In the latest update to Facebook for iPad in the US, we’re testing new ways to help people discover more timely and entertaining content. This update will show content on the right-hand side that’s relevant to how people use tablets today, which is primarily to read news, watch videos and play games. In landscape mode, the new sidebar will include trending topics and videos, links to games you play and popular games you might enjoy. You can find more details on the update here. We’ll continue to improve the Facebook experience on iPad, and we’ll keep you posted." Reference Link

Apple (AAPL) had taken Shanghai-based Zhizhen Internet Technology and China's State Intellectual Property Office to court in hopes that the court would rule that Zhizhen's patent rights to a speech recognition technology were invalid, but the Beijing First Intermediate Court decided in favor of Zhizhen, according to Reuters, citing a report from the People's Daily state newspaper in China. After the ruling, the report noted that Apple is aiming to take the case to the Beijing Higher People's Court. Reference Link

After the Federal Trade Commission cracked down on apps previously available on Apple (AAPL) devices that let children spend money without their parents' permission, Apple told the FTC that similar apps are available on Google's (GOOG) app store, according to Politico. Pacific Crest believes Garmin shares may be overvalued and sees fair value for the stock in the mid-$40 range. The stock closed yesterday at $60.63.

Advertising technology company Nanigans stated earlier today in its "Q2 Global Facebook Advertising Benchmarks" report that the social network's ad prices and performance climbed in the quarter. In Q2, the average cost per click for Facebook desktop and mobile ads rose to 55c, which is 7% greater than that of the previous quarter and 29% higher compared to the same quarter in 2013, the report stated. The average click-through rate for Facebook ads on desktop and mobile channels was up 47% from Q1 and up 146% year-over-year compared to Q2 of last year, the report added. Reference Link

The video adds that the existence of the part dispels rumors that only the larger, 5.5" iPhone 6 would feature a sapphire display.
