Viper Energy Partners (VNOM), a subsidiary of Diamondback Energy (FANG) and Diamondback today announced the launch of Viper's initial public offering of 5M common units representing limited partner interests. Barclays, Credit Suisse and Wells Fargo Securities are acting as joint book-running managers for the offering, Baird, Raymond James, Scotiabank / Howard Weil, Simmons & Company International, Stifel and Tudor, Pickering, Holt & Co. are acting as senior co-managers for the offering, and Northland Capital Markets, Sterne Agee and Wunderlich Securities are acting as co-managers for the offering.

Wunderlich believes the recent sell-offs in shares of Diamondback Energy (FANG) and Viper Energy (VNOM) are "significantly overdone." The firm thinks recent news from Viper suggests that Diamondback's work in the Permian is continuing to provide strong growth in production and cash flow. It keeps a Buy rating on Diamondback with a $110 price target.
