09:22 EDTF, GMFord expands SYNC AppLink system to 3.4M more vehicles
Ford Motor announced new system investments and organizational alignments related to delivering fully integrated connected cars and digital consumer experiences. Ahead of expected additional announcements at the 2014 International CES, Ford announces it will expand its SYNC AppLink system to 3.4M more vehicles currently on the road. A newly aligned organization will manage connectivity across the entire enterprise, with Don Butler, who was most recently vice president, Global Strategy for Cadillac at General Motors (GM), appointed to the newly created position of Ford's executive director, Connected Vehicle and Services. The Connected Vehicle and Services group will work with the newly created Global Digital Marketing organization to help accelerate the goal of connecting customers to their vehicles, Ford said.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety said GM's (GM) Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain earned the highest scores among mid-size sport-utility cars in a test made to simulate one of the deadliest kinds of front-end crashes, according to Bloomberg, citing a statement from IIHS's Chief Research Officer David Zuby.
