ZKenergy Science & Technology announced that the company has won the lawsuit against Wuxi Suntech Power over contract disputes and received the Notice of Judgment on July 23, in reference to Case Sushang First Trial-00022. ZKenergy filed a lawsuit against Wuxi Suntech on September 1, 2014, alleging that the latter failed to perform its obligations under the terms of Solar Module Sales Contract and the supplementary agreement, and requiring Wuxi Suntech to restitute the payment totaling RMB 206M and to be liable for breach of the agreements. ZKenergy received the notice that the court had agreed to hear the case on September 3, 2014. Wuxi Suntech filed a counterclaim to ZKenergy's claim on December 25, 2014, requiring ZKenergy to pay its loss of RMB 246.6M.

Sharp (SHCAY) plans to stop producing thin solar cells due to heightened price competition from Asian rivals, reports Nikkei. The publication notes that the company will use its Sakai thin solar cell plant to instead produce solar panels for residential use. Publicly traded companies in the space include Canadian Solar (CSIQ), First Solar (FSLR), JA Solar (JASO), SunPower (SPWR), Trina Solar (TSL) and Yingli Green Energy (YGE). Reference Link

JPMorgan analyst Paul Coster views the 20% pullback in shares of First Solar since mid June as a buying opportunity. Coster keeps an Overweight rating on the stock ahead of the company's Q2 results. He looks for Firs Solar's FY15 guidance, which was suspended since the company announced its intentions to form a YieldCo, to be reinstated. The analyst has a $68 price target on shares.

Trina Solar's TSM-PE05A and TS-PE14A polycrystalline modules have received UL1500V certification from Underwriters Laboratories, a global independent safety science company. The UL1500V award certifies that the Modules are allowed to be used in PV systems with a maximum system voltage of 1500V, significantly higher than the existing 1000V of most modules on the market. Furthermore, the 1500V certification demonstrates that the Modules produced by Trina Solar meet higher technical standards and quality requirements.
