Ericsson (ERIC) has conjured up a new strategy to join the success of Apple (AAPL) and Samsung (SSNLF) with a new $17 stamp-sized chip for transferring data to phones and it and expects to start generating revenue soon, according to Bloomberg citing comments from Ericsson's head of strategy and ecosystem Bjoern Ekelund at the firm's Lund facility. By making the parts instead of handsets, Ericsson avoids competing against the giants that dominate smartphone sales, but it still would to go toe-to-toe with Qualcomm (QCOM). Reference Link

Apple may be working on "smart bands" for the Apple Watch product in order to add more health tracking functions, reports Apple Insider, citing Czech website Letem Svetem Applem. Citing unnamed sources, the Czech website said Apple is planning to announce new bands that will connect the hidden port of the Apple Watch and add functionality to the device.
