Consensus $2.80. As a result of its settlement with the Department of Justice, the company will incur ongoing costs associated with enhanced compliance activities, including monitoring expenses and other costs under the corporate integrity agreement as well as interest expense on a portion of the settlement amount, totaling approximately $2.5M annually. Ensign has accordingly revised its previously-announced earnings guidance for 2013 to a range of $2.72 to $2.81 per share.

The Ensign Group announced that it has acquired Namaste Hospice located in Denver, Colorado. Namaste will be operated by Cornerstone Healthcare, Ensign's home health and hospice operating company.The purchase was made with cash, and brings Ensign's growing portfolio to ten home health agencies and nine hospices, across nine states. Ensign expects the newly-acquired agency to be mildly accretive to earnings in 2014. CEO Christopher Christensen reaffirmed that Ensign is actively seeking additional opportunities to acquire both well-performing and struggling home health and hospice operations across the U.S.
