| theflyonthewall.com: | Meridian Resources provides update on possible competing bids for the company | | The Meridian Resource reported an update on events related to the announced merger proposal between itself and Alta Mesa Holding. In the proxy statement filed by the Company on February 8, Meridian reported that on February 4, its board of directors received an unsolicited, non-binding preliminary indication of interest from a third party. On March 10, the third party notified us that they were not prepared to make a binding offer that would provide greater value to Meridian and its shareholders than the value that would be provided under the Alta Mesa agreement. On February 19, Meridian's board received another unsolicited, non-binding preliminary indication of interest from another third party. The preliminary indication of interest contemplated the acquisition of all of our common stock at a purchase price of not less than 31c per share, subject to, among other things, confirmatory due diligence. At this time, the board has not received a binding offer from this particular third party. If a binding offer is submitted, the board will consider all of its alternatives consistent with its fiduciary duties under applicable law and subject to the terms and conditions of the merger agreement wit Alta Mesa Holdings. At this time our board continues to recommend that our shareholders vote to adopt the merger agreement with Alta Mesa. :theflyonthewall.com |

It's a leader in technology even if it cannot compete on price. "What's most important is that our technology has a better architecture, a better time to market, better performance per watt and better performance per dollar," CEO Charles Liang says. "That's why we were able to win." Says Alex Kurtz with Merriman Curhan Ford: "The story is mostly market share. The server market is not a robust grower, but Supermicro had been growing 30% a year for a while." And they're well positioned for that to continue. Reference Link :theflyonthewall.com |

| theflyonthewall.com: | Halozyme Therapeutics provides financial outlook for 2010 | | Halozyme anticipates 2010 net cash burn of approximately $40M-$45M, depending on the progress of various preclinical and clinical programs, the timing of our manufacturing scale up and the achievement of various milestones under our existing collaborative agreements. Total operating expenses for the year 2010 are expected to be approximately in line with those reported for 2009. The increase in net cash burn for 2010 relative to 2009 relates to the absence of proceeds from the exercise of warrants in 2010, and to a lesser extent, the amount of anticipated payments from our alliance partners in 2010. :theflyonthewall.com |

| theflyonthewall.com: | Devon's deepwater asset sales to BP should benefit investors, Barrons.com says | | Devon Energy (DVN), which is looking to unload further assets, noted that given the prices in the all-cash BP (BP) deal announced Thursday and its previous sales, it expects its divestiture efforts to ultimately bring in more than the $4.5B-$7.5B range after taxes, that the company had previously anticipated. Devon's stock inched up on the news, gaining 1% to a recent $72.50, but Barrons.com expects shares to rise further. Devon's overall divestiture plan, and the BP deal in particular, will allow the company to concentrate on other opportunities without loading up on debt. Barron's has previously written that the stock could see more than 30% upside, noting that despite its strong balance sheet -- $4.7B in cash flow -- it continues to trade at a discount to its peers. Likewise, along with being cheaper, making it more flexible to pursue exploration. Though Devon's North American operations are more mature, concentrating energies on these projects should boost production. Therefore, while Devon still has much work to do, Barrons.com says, patient investors should be rewarded. Reference Link :theflyonthewall.com |

| theflyonthewall.com: | AstraZeneca comments on FDA meeting on safety studies for LABAs in asthma | | On March 10-11, the Joint Advisory Committees of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, or FDA -- including the Pulmonary-Allergy Drugs and the Drug Safety and Risk Management Advisory Committees -- discussed the design of post-marketing safety studies for long-acting beta-agonist, or LABA-containing products in the U.S., including Symbicort, or budesonide/formoterol fumarate dihydrate. "As we've witnessed over the past two days, there are many challenges in designing and executing a relevant, feasible and ethical post-marketing safety study that answers FDA's question regarding LABA-containing products," said Howard Hutchinson, M.D., Chief Medical Officer of AstraZeneca. "AstraZeneca is confident in the positive benefit-risk profile of Symbicort in asthma as demonstrated by extensive clinical data and patient experience, and supports ongoing scientific discussion to address any outstanding questions regarding the use of combination LABA and inhaled corticosteroid products for the treatment of asthma. We look forward to working with the FDA to execute a study design that is both scientifically robust and offers a pragmatic approach to answer critical questions regarding the appropriate use of LABAs." :theflyonthewall.com |
