Devon's stock inched up on the news, gaining 1% to a recent $72.50, but Barrons.com expects shares to rise further. Devon's overall divestiture plan, and the BP deal in particular, will allow the company to concentrate on other opportunities without loading up on debt. Barron's has previously written that the stock could see more than 30% upside, noting that despite its strong balance sheet -- $4.7B in cash flow -- it continues to trade at a discount to its peers. Likewise, along with being cheaper, making it more flexible to pursue exploration. Though Devon's North American operations are more mature, concentrating energies on these projects should boost production.
