House Republicans have introduced a bill that would prevent the interest rates on student loans from doubling this summer, but would likely cause the rates to rise slightly, to 5% from the current 3.4%, overthe next two years, according to The Hill The bill would tie the interest rate on student loans to ten year Treasury notes and is based on a proposal from the Obama administration, the website added.
