DirecTV (DTV) still needs to iron out details with the NFL on a new Sunday Ticket deal, though a broad agreement has been reached on the price and length of a deal, according to SportsBusiness Journal, citing multiple sources. Under the broad terms, DirecTVís rights fee will increase by a mid-single-digit percentage each year to between $1.3B-$1.4B over the next decade, the report said, adding that sources indicated a formal announcement is "not imminent." 13:04 EDTDTVRovi two contract renewals 'material positives,' says Piper Jaffray
Piper Jaffray analyst Michael Olson views Rovi's (ROVI) multiyear renewal with Europe's Sky today and renewal with Charter (CHTR) in April as "material positives." Rovi shares sold off on concern that the invalidation of five patents in its case against Netflix (NFLX) could affect the company's ability to get major service provider renewals done in the coming 6-12 months, Olson tells investors in a research note. The Sky and Charter deals should alleviate some concern around Rovi's upcoming renewals with Comcast (CMCSA), DISH (DISH) and DirecTV (DTV), the analyst argues. He reiterates an Overweight rating on the stock with a $26 price target.
