Amdocs (DOX) announced that Telefonica (TEF) has selected Amdocs for transformation projects in Chile and Peru. "By modernizing and standardizing Telefonica's business support systems on Amdocs software, Telefonica subscribers in these countries will be able to move seamlessly between all customer interaction channels, whether self-service or agent assisted, via the Web, call center or at the retail store, across its entire quad-play offering - wireline, wireless, Internet and TV," the company said.

Amdocs (DOX) announced that Telefonica (TEF), one of the world's leading service providers, has selected Amdocs for a business support systems, or BSS, transformation project in Brazil to provide a seamless, multi-channel experience for Vivo's quad-play customers across wireline, including fiber, wireless, Internet, and TV, including IPTV. The project spans customer relationship management including self-service; service order management; master enterprise catalog, and revenue management. The new agreement extends Telefonica's strategy of differentiating itself by enabling all customer interactions online and ensuring a consistent experience across all channels, and follows similar transformation projects awarded to Amdocs for Telefonica Argentina, Chile and Peru. As part of this agreement, Amdocs will consolidate Vivo's multiple third-party legacy systems onto a single Amdocs BSS platform and will provide system development and delivery, data migration, testing, business process and change management services under a five-year maintenance and support services contract following delivery.

Amdocs (DOX) announced that U.S. Cellular (USM) has entered into an agreement with Amdocs to manage the operations of a range of its business and operational support systems, or B/OSS. The five-year agreement covers key B/OSS areas including service activation, customer care and retail interaction, as well as billing for both business and retail customers. Amdocs will provide 24/7 system support including tier 2 services and application support. Amdocs will also manage U.S. Cellular's billing operations for both pre- and postpaid customers, spanning 3G and 4G networks in some 100 markets in North America.

Telefónica (TEF) has entered into an exclusivity agreement with Hutchison Whampoa (HUWHY) in relation to Hutchison’s potential acquisition of O2 UK, Telefónica’s subsidiary in the United Kingdom, for GBP10.25B in cash. The agreement includes an initial amount of GBP9.25B which would be paid at closing of the transaction and an additional deferred payment of GBP1B. The exclusivity period will last several weeks, allowing Telefónica and Hutchison Whampoa Group to negotiate definitive agreements, while the necessary due diligence process on O2 UK is completed.
