Lufthansa (DLAKY) said that it is positioned to cut service to Venezuela by 40% beginning in August amid an ongoing battle regarding repatriation of revenue from ticket sales, reported Reuters. Carriers such as American Airlines (AAL), Delta (DAL) and United Continental's (UAL) United have cut their number of flights to Venezuela over complaints they have not been able to get hard currency through the OPEC nation's currency control system. IBM (IBM) announced that it has signed a seven-year EUR 1B outsourcing contract to deliver IT infrastructure services for the Deutsche Lufthansa AG (DLAKY) and its Group companies. According to the agreement, which is subject in particular to the approval of the Lufthansa Supervisory Board and antitrust authorities, IBM will first optimize the airline's IT processes to increase efficiency, which is expected to generate an estimated cost savings by an average of approximately EUR 70M annually for the Lufthansa Group. This agreement is in line with the terms and conditions as published already in October. As part of the outsourcing agreement, IBM will manage Lufthansa Systems' entire data center operations, help desk and printer services along with individual infrastructure services. Around 1,400 Lufthansa Systems employees will transfer to IBM. Infrastructure services are scheduled to begin from IBM on April 1, 2015. The contract was signed November 15, 2014.

Says on track to produce over $4B in pre-tax income in 2014. Long term goals include: annual EPS growth of 10%-15% after 2014, 11%-14% operating margins, 15%-18% ROIC, $6B annual operating cash flow, $3B free cash flow, $5B adjusted net debt by 2016 and pension at 80% funded status by 2020. Says Fleet will have ~125 50-seat regionals by 2015, down from nearly 500 at the merger. At $5B debt target, 2017 interest expense expected to be nearly $1B lower than 2009. Says debt reduction remains a priority. Plans to return over $1B to shareholders in 2014, says $2B repurchase plant o be completed no later than December 31, 2016. Comments from slides that will be presented at the Goldman Sachs Industrials Conference.
