Wells Fargo views the draft copy of the SGR ''Doc Fix'' bill released by the House of Representatives this morning as positive for labs, dialysis providers, hospitals and skilled nursing facility operators. The firm added that it thinks the chances the bill passes are high. Quest Diagnostics (DGX) and LabCorp (LH) are publicly traded labs, while DaVita (DVA) and Fresenius Medical (FMS) operate dialysis centers. Publicly traded hospital operators include Community Health (CYH), HCA Holdings (HCA), LifePoint Hospitals (LPNT), Tenet (THC) and Universal Health (UHS). Skilled nursing stocks include Skilled Healthcare (SKH), AdCare (ADK) and Kindred Healthcare (KND).

Quest Diagnostics (DGX) declined comment to Bloomberg regarding the takeover speculation that pushed the company's stock higher today. Shares of Quest are up $7.01 to $80.89 in midday trading. Shares spiked earlier in the trading day amid talk among traders that Quest hired an investment bank to explore a sale after being approached by a suitor. The talk is unconfirmed speculation that has not been reported by any news agencies. Quest peer LabCorp (LH) is up $1.74 to $122.10 at midday.

Kindred Healthcare announced that Kindred House Calls, the companyís home-based primary care business, has expanded into three additional states. Kindred recently acquired House Call Doctors of Austin, Texas, whose CEO Julia Jung has joined Kindredís Managed Care Group. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. In March, Kindred acquired Physician House Calls in Denver, Colorado. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Kindred House Calls is also integrating two primary care practices that were part of Gentiva Health Services, acquired in February. The Gentiva practices are located in Austin, Texas, and Spokane, Washington.
