Wells Fargo views the draft copy of the SGR ''Doc Fix'' bill released by the House of Representatives this morning as positive for labs, dialysis providers, hospitals and skilled nursing facility operators. The firm added that it thinks the chances the bill passes are high. Quest Diagnostics (DGX) and LabCorp (LH) are publicly traded labs, while DaVita (DVA) and Fresenius Medical (FMS) operate dialysis centers. Publicly traded hospital operators include Community Health (CYH), HCA Holdings (HCA), LifePoint Hospitals (LPNT), Tenet (THC) and Universal Health (UHS). Skilled nursing stocks include Skilled Healthcare (SKH), AdCare (ADK) and Kindred Healthcare (KND).

Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings and Monogram Biosciences, Inc., part of the LabCorp Specialty Testing Group, today announced the launch of HIV GenoSure Archive, the first laboratory test to help optimize antiretroviral drug regimens in virally suppressed HIV patients. GenoSure Archive was developed using the Next Generation Sequencing platform.

LipoScience (LPDX) announced that the Federal Trade Commission has granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976 applicable to the acquisition of LipoScience by Laboratory Corporation of America Holdings (LH). The transaction remains subject to other customary closing conditions set forth in the Agreement and Plan of Merger, dated September 24. The transaction is expected to close in Q4.

Washington Trust's Commercial Real Estate Group recently provided $4.84M to Newtown Medical Office I to finance the construction of a two-story suburban medical office building in Newtown, Connecticut. The building will feature 25,806 square-feet of rentable space. More than 9,400 square-feet of the building is leased to national dialysis treatment providers, DaVita, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners (DVA). The Washington Trust Company is a subsidiary of Washington Trust Bancorp (WASH).

AdCare's shareholders approved certain leasing transactions, effectively authorizing AdCare to pursue the previously announced strategic plan to transition the company to a healthcare property holding and leasing company. Through a series of leasing transactions, the operations of the company's currently owned and operated healthcare facilities are in the process of being transitioned to third parties, and the properties AdCare leases will be sub-leased. To date, the company has leased two facilities in Alabama and another in Georgia, and refinanced two additional properties. Also, Mr. Brent Morrison, previously a non-voting board observer, has been named to the AdCare's Board of Directors.
