07:35 EDTDGLYDigital Ally granted order from Michigan State Police for over $1.1M
Digital Ally received an order valued at more than $1.1M from the State of Michigan. The company was originally awarded a three-year contract with the State of Michigan that, in addition to the State Police, allows any state, municipal or county agency to purchase Digital Ally's products without requiring competitive bid. The one-year extension brought the full value of the Michigan State Police contract to $4.5M. The value of the total contract awarded to Digital Ally now approximates $6.5M, which includes the original three-year contract plus the two extensions that are now in effect. The company has received its first purchase order, which is valued at over $1.1M, under this newly extended contract. This order is expected to ship in the quarter ending September 30.

Recent current events in Ferguson, Missouri have led to an increase in media attention relating to police body cameras, including an article in The Wall Street Journal titled 'What Happens When Police Officers Wear Body Cameras,' noting that force by officers declined 60%; an article in Time titled 'California Mayor Urges Cops to Wear Body Cameras After Ferguson,' where Hawthorne Mayor Chris Brown is introducing an ordinance for the police to begin wearing body cameras; and a Fox article titled 'Ferguson violence prompts call for same type of police body cameras being tested in Indiana.'
