Wells Fargo said it was already skeptical of a potential merger between Dollar General (DG) and Family Dollar (FDO) and the firm sees such a tie-up as even less likely following the retirement of Dollar General's CEO. Wells thinks the news could signal that the company will not be changing strategic course between now and the retirement and the firm keeps its Market Perform rating on Dollar General.
