Federal authorities have made inquiries for information from two companies in connection with an insider trading investigation involving activist investor Carl Icahn, sports bettor William T. Walters and golfer Phil Mickelson, says Dow Jones. In recent weeks Dean Foods (DF) received a subpoena from authorities and Clorox (CLX) received a request from the SEC for information related to trades done in the company shares, Dow Jones added.

Clorox announced that executive chairman Donald Knauss has decided to retire from the company and the board. The company and the board have accepted his resignation, effective July 1. The board of directors also has appointed George Harad as independent chair of the board, effective July 1. Matschullat will become chair of the nominating and governance committee, effective immediately, and Jeffrey Noddle will become chair of the management development and compensation committee, effective July 1.

Clorox announced that its board increased the quarterly cash dividend on the company's common stock by 4%, from 74c to 77c per share. The dividend will be payable on Aug. 7, to stockholders of record as of July 22.

Dean Foods said global fundamental supportive is supportive to the business against slowing supply growth and rebalancing demand. The company said US milk production is expanding with increases in both herd size and yield offsetting drought in California. Exports were down as a result of China and Russia demand contraction. Expects seasonal inventory buildup to continue in Q2. Weakening currencies and demand side constraints could mean reduced global prices in upcoming months. Reports Q1 volumes down 6% to 662M gallons. Expects volume declines to continue in line with recent trends. Expects higher cost per gallon to continue through 2015 as volume deleverage out paces the benefits it realized from plant closures and capital related efficiencies. The company said it is still driving FY15 cost productivity agenda across procurement, operations and logistics but it will take longer than expected to see flat growth. Comments taken from slides for Q1 earnings conference call.
