Deere reports North American industry utility tractor sales were down 1% in February and that Deere utility tractor sales were down a single digit but more than the industry in the month. Deere said industry row crop tractor sales were down 6% for the month and that Deere sales were down less than the industry. Deere said industry 4WD tractor sales were down 14% and Deere 4WD sales were down double-digits but were down less than the industry. Deere said industry combine sales were down 15% for the month and Deere combine sales were down more than the industry.

Deere & Company reiterated its support for Trade Promotion Authority legislation passed by the U.S. Senate after earlier approval by the U.S. House of Representatives. It now moves to U.S. President Barack Obama, who is expected to sign the bill into law. "We are pleased this important trade bill has moved another step toward enactment," said Samuel R. Allen, Deere & Company chairman and CEO. "Trade Promotion Authority strengthens the ability of the U.S. to advance a robust trade agenda that will expand jobs and opportunities for American businesses, farmers, and workers. BofA/Merrill said an AGCO (AGCO) sale to Deere (DE) or CNH (CNHI) is unlikely given antitrust factors and a tie-up with Japan's Kubota would face cultural obstacles. The firm raised its price target on Neutral rated AGCO to $58 from $53 to reflect activist investor Blue Harbour's increased stake but said industry fundamentals may still get worse.
