California's Air Resources Board has sent an "In Use Compliance" letter notifying Volkswagen (VLKAY), Audi (AUDVF), and Porsche (POAHY) to start the process to recall and repair illegal emissions software in all 3-liter diesel vehicles, model years 2009-2015, sold in California. "The companies will now have 45 business days to assemble their plan and deliver it to the Air Resources Board. This action is the result of an admission by officials at Audi, manufacturer of all the engines involved, that the vehicles contain three undisclosed auxiliary emissions control devices," said the agency. The new emergency services will be available beginning with the model year 2017 Audi Q7, which goes on sale in January 2016.

BMW Group said it reaffirmed its long term commitment to South Africa by announcing that it will invest a total of R6B at its Rosslyn Plant in Pretoria in the coming years. The investment, one of the biggest in the local automotive industry, will enable Plant Rosslyn to produce the next generation of the BMW X3, which will be sold locally and exported to various countries. The production of the next generation BMW X3 at Plant Rosslyn will replace the BMW 3 Series Sedan, which will now be allocated to other plants within the global BMW production network. BMW Plant Spartanburg in South Carolina, USA, will also continue to produce the next generation BMW X3. More than R3B will be invested in new state-of-the-art facilities and operations of the plant. An additional R3B will be for suppliers, launch costs and training of associates. Reference Link
