07:02 EDTSPR, DCO, BASpirit selects Ducommun for Boeing 737 MAX
Ducommun (DCO) announced that it has been awarded several contracts by Spirit AeroSystems (SPR) to produce structural assemblies for the Boeing (BA) 737 MAX commercial jetliner. Ducommun will provide a variety of titanium assemblies used in the propulsion and thrust reverser assemblies built by Spirit AeroSystems for the 737 MAX. Production on these initial contracts is expected to begin later this year. Ducommun has provided structural solutions to the 737 platform since its inception.

Wells Fargo raised its Q2 earnings forecast for Boeing to $2.11 from $2.05 per share after the company reported 197 commercial units delivered, topping the firm's 190 unit estimate, along with a mix that the firm said was richer than it expected. The firm kept its full year commercial delivery forecast unchanged at 754 planes and maintains its Outperform rating on Boeing shares.

Regarding the appointment of Dennis Muilenburg as Boeing CEO, outgoing CEO James McNerney says, "in many ways, there's not going to be a change." Muilenburg noted that the current defense market is more "challenging," and that the company needs to deliver on its 777 bridge program. Muilenburg added that the company's backlog remains "solid." Both executives are speaking on CNBC.

The Boeing board has elected Dennis Muilenburg as the company's CEO, succeeding W. James McNerney, Jr., who held the position for the past 10 years. Muilenburg, who has served as Boeing president and COO since 2013, becomes president and CEO on July 1. McNerney, who joined Boeing's board in 2001, continues as its chairman. To ensure a smooth transition of his CEO responsibilities to Muilenburg, he will continue working as a company employee until retiring at the end of February 2016.
