19:34 EDTINTC, CSCO, FFIV, MSFT, JNPRRising technology dividends points to growth drought, Barron's reports
Cisco's (CSCO) results showed some definite improvement, such as double-digit sales growth among the company's top 29 global corporate customers. But, it's more mature posture with respect to dividends certainly does point to what is a "seeming drought of growth' among techs, Barron's Technology Trader columnist Tiernan Ray contends. Consider some of the growth -- or lack thereof -- highlights of this past earnings season. Some of Cisco's compatriots in the networking industry are doing even worse, such as Juniper Networks (JNPR), which saw sales fall 4.2% in the June period. Others are doing better, though their rich stock multiples make one cringe. F5 Networks (FFIV), for example, reported 21% growth in the June quarter, but it trades at 23x next year's projected profit per share. A few weeks ago, Intel (INTC) and Microsoft (MSFT) cheered the Street by holding together all right despite a lackluster PC market. Both reported growth for the June quarter and total revenue for this year is projected to rise far less than year-ago. Reference Link
