AMD (AMD) has hired a consulting firm to help it review a potential split or spinoff, Reuters reported late Friday, citing three people familiar with the matter. Reuters notes that AMD may be seeking to better compete with Intel (INTC), and sources said one option being considered is to separate AMD's server business from its graphics and licensing arm. Tamr announced that it has raised $25.2M in Series B financing from Hewlett Packard Ventures (HPQ); Thomson Reuters (TRI); MassMutual Ventures, the corporate venture capital arm of Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company and others. Current Tamr investors NEA and Google Ventures (GOOG) also participated in the round. Tamr will use the funds to significantly grow sales as well as product engineering for Tamrís scalable data unification platform.
