Copa Holdings' system-wide passenger traffic - RPM- increased 17.4% year over year, while capacity increased 16.9%. As a result, system load factor was 76.3%, 0.3% up vs. February 2012. International passenger traffic grew 18.8%, while capacity increased 18.3%. This resulted in a load factor of 76.2%, 0.3% up vs. February 2012. For the month, International capacity represented 96.7% of total capacity. Domestic traffic, represented wholly by Colombian domestic service, decreased 12.8%, while capacity decreased 12.5%. As a result, domestic load factor for the month decreased 0.3% to 77.6%. For the month, domestic capacity represented 3.3% of total capacity.

Deutsche Bank analyst Michael Linenberg upgraded American Airlines (AAL), Delta Air Lines (DAL) and Copa Holdings (CPA) to Buy saying issues surrounding PRASM weakness, unresolved labor contracts and government investigations are more than fully discounted at current share levels. Further, recent declines in energy prices, if sustained, can drive upside to earnings estimates, Linenberg tells investors in a research note. The analyst has a $65 price target for shares of Copa Holdings.
