19:45 EDTCMCSA, TWC, NFLXComcast responds to Netflix opposition to Time Warner Cable deal
Comcast (CMCSA) issued a statement in response to Netflix's (NFLX) statement in its quarterly earnings report that it opposes Comcast's proposed merger with Time Warner Cable (TWC). Comcast said, in part, "Netflix's opposition to our Time Warner Cable transaction is based on inaccurate claims and arguments. There has been no company that has had a stronger commitment to openness of the Internet than Comcast and we are the only ISP in the country that is currently legally bound by the FCCs vacated Net Neutrality rules. In fact, one of the many benefits of our proposed transaction with Time Warner Cable will be the extension of Net Neutrality protections to millions of additional Americans." Comcast concluded by saying, "Netflix is free to express its opinions. But they should be factually based. And Netflix should be transparent that its opinion is not about protecting the consumer or about Net Neutrality. Rather, its about improving Netflixs business model by shifting costs that it has always borne to all users of the Internet and not just to Netflix customers." Reference Link

The Federal Communications Commission's has received more than 677K comments so far from the public on its proposed 'net-neutrality' rules for how broadband providers can treat content traveling over their networks and a random sampling of the input suggests that the agency will have work to do to sell the plan, according to The Wall Street Journal. 07:14 EDTTWC, CMCSAAereo seeks to survive as cable system, WSJ says
Following its Supreme Court loss, Aereo is now arguing that it should be classified as a cable system and receive a compulsory license that would give it legal access to content and allow it to continue operating, reported The Wall Street Journal. Television broadcasters that own the copyrights in many of the programs that Aereo streams, including CBS (CBS), Disney (DIS), 21st Century Fox (FOXA), and Comcast (CMCSA), successfully sued the service for copyright infringement. In addition to Comcast, publicly-traded cable companies include Time Warner Cable (TWC), Cablevision (CVC), and Charter (CHTR). Reference Link
