07:13 EDTCLColgate-Palmolive sees low-single-digit EPS decline on dollar basis
The company said, "As we look ahead, macroeconomic conditions and foreign exchange volatility remain challenging. Despite that, we anticipate another year of solid organic sales growth driven by a full new product pipeline across all categories and geographies. While our long-term goal of double-digit annual earnings per share growth remains unchanged, we continue to see significant deterioration in foreign exchange rates. We are planning for a year of gross margin expansion, however, based on current spot rates, we now expect a low-single-digit earnings per share decline on a dollar basis, excluding charges related to the 2012 Restructuring Program. This earnings per share decline would reflect a double-digit increase on a currency-neutral basis."

The shares have been in a classically bullish uptrend since March 2011. Its price channel has been volatile, but there has been very stable support at its 50-week moving average. Price is currently hugging closer to the 50-week. If there is bullish news we can expect price to bounce off the 50-week. Projecting the price channel forward we get a price potential of $72.50 at the mid-point, above the 52-week high at $71.56, with the top of the channel at the $74 area. If the news is bearish, first support would be at the 50-week at $67.82. A breakdown below that moving average would signal a break of the long-term uptrend. Next support in that event would be at $65 and then at $63.48. A move to the lowest of these supports or lower would turn the long-term trend to bearish.
