China Mobile’s (CHL) efforts to develop local 4G wireless infrastructure in advance of its two domestic rivals are likely to pay off, with the operator expected to account for the majority of the country’s subscribers through 2017, according to IHS iSuppli. The number of China Mobile 4G subscribers is forecast to reach 228.8M in 2017, representing 52% of China’s 439.9M total 4G users, the firm stated. In comparison, 4G users from China Unicom (CHU) and China Telecom (CHA)—the country’s two other major telecommunications operators—will number 114.4M and 96.8M, respectively, it added. Nokia (NOK) introduced the Nokia Lumia 925, which introduces a metal design and includes the most advanced lens technology and next generation imaging software for clearer, sharper pictures and video, including the best low light images. The Nokia Lumia 925 also introduces the new Nokia Smart Camera mode, coming as an update to all Lumia Windows Phone 8 smartphones. The Lumia 925 is being introduced into Europe with Vodafone (VOD), along with other operator and retail partners. In addition to Europe, the Nokia Lumia 925 will be introduced into the US by T-Mobile (TMUS) and into China by China Mobile (CHL) and China Unicom (CHU).
