Cerner announced a strategic agreement with Intermountain Healthcare to provide clinical governance of solutions and workflow to be proposed for the Department of Defense's Healthcare Management System Modernization, or DHMSM, initiative. Cerner is a member of the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health, an alliance that includes Leidos, the domain experts in Military Health, and Accenture, a global IT and management consulting company and one of the largest EHR systems integrators in the world. If awarded, the Leidos Partnership will transition the DOD smoothly and securely to an open, modern, secure and interoperable system, informed by the most comprehensive medical information across the continuum of care. Leveraging decades of clinical experience and research, Intermountain will work with Cerner to meet the military's specific requirements to modernize its electronic health record process. Through a multi-year partnership, Intermountain is implementing Cerner EHR solutions and revenue cycle across its internationally recognized nonprofit system of 22 hospitals and 185 clinics throughout Utah and southeastern Idaho.

Cerner (CERN) and Athenahealth (ATHN) said yesterday that they are working with Apple (AAPL) to develop applications for Apple's HealthKit, Reuters reports, citing Cerner and Athenahealth representatives. Athena said they will be utilizing HealthKit to assist patients with chronic conditions like diabetes, while Cerner said that doctors and nurses will be able to access health data from the patients HealthKit with consent, Reuters added. 18:46 EDTCERNCerner receives regulatory clearance for acquisition of Siemens Health Services
Cerner (CERN) announced the U.S. Federal Trade Commission granted early termination of the waiting period under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act of 1976, as amended, in connection with the company's purchase of the assets of Siemens' (SIEGY) health information technology business unit, Siemens Health Services, for $1.3B in cash. The early termination of the HSR waiting period satisfies one of the conditions to the closing of the pending acquisition. The transaction remains subject to other customary closing conditions and is still expected to close in the first quarter of 2015.
