Starboard disclosed that it entered into a settlement agreement with Calgon Carbon whereby the company agreed to, among other things, increase the size of the board from eight to nine members, nominate and support Donald Templin and Mr. Massimo for election to the board at the 2013 Annual Meeting, amend its Rights Agreement within five business days following the date of the settlement agreement to replace in the definition of Acquiring Person any references to 10% with 15%. Starboard owns 9.2% of Calgon Carbon's outstanding shares.

Hyde Marine, a wholly owned subsidiary of Calgon Carbon Corporation, has established a Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore-based Keppel Shipyard and SEAQUEST Marine Systems PTE, Ltd., for installation of the chemical free Hyde GUARDIAN Gold Ballast Water Treatment System in international markets. Under the MOU, Keppel Shipyard will be able to carry out retrofit installations of Hyde GUARDIAN Gold BWTS at its Singapore shipyard. Such a partnership will position Hyde Marine for the anticipated increase in the Asian retrofit market after the maritime industry is required to comply with international ballast water treatment regulations.

09:27 EDTCCCCalgon Carbon awarded 10-year contract for reactivation services by Palmdale
Calgon Carbon Corporation announced that the company and Palmdale Water District, have signed a 10-year contract under which Calgon Carbon will provide reactivation services to treat the Districtís drinking water. The value of the contract will depend upon the amount of spent carbon that is reactivated annually, which is expected to be 1 million pounds.
