Asian stocks were mixed as commodities rose but worries persisted over China's attempts to limit lending. JAPAN: The Nikkei 225 gained 1.6% to 10,371.09. Toyota (TM) rallied 4.5% after announcing that it would provide its U.S. dealers with repair kits this week that would enable them to fix the faulty accelerators of the company's vehicles. Isuzu jumped 6.2%, while camera maker Canon (CAJ) added 2.7%. Mitsubishi Corp. (MSBHY), a brokerage, advanced 5.1%. CHINA: The Shanghai Composite Index inched down 0.2% to 2,934.71. China Eastern Airlines (CEA) sank 5.1% after its new shares went on sale and real estate developer China Vanke (CVKEF) retreated 1.4%. Jiangxi Copper Co. climbed 2.3% and gold producer Zijin Mining rallied 5.9%. AROUND ASIA: Hong Kong's Hang Seng Index inched up 0.14%, but Taiwan's Taiex dropped 1.26% and South Korea's Kospi lost 0.66%...Australia kept its key interest rate at 3.75%.
