10:08 EDTGRPNGoPro sinks after analyst finds cameras on flash sales sites
The shares of action camera maker GoPro (GPRO) are sinking and hit a new 52-week low after research firm Piper Jaffray reported that the company has been offering significant discounts on its cameras. WHAT'S NEW: GoPro's cameras have been selling on flash sales websites such as Zulily (ZU) and Groupon (GRPN) at price discounts of 16%-34%, Piper analyst Erinn Murphy wrote in a note to investors today. As a result of these discounts and the 147% increase in GoPro's inventory at the end of the third quarter, the analyst is concerned that the company's gross margin could be pressured. In addition to the discounts GoPro is offering on the flash websites, the camera maker cut the price of its GoPro Session camera on Amazon to $299 from $399 in September and there has been "select downward price movement" on two more of its cameras on Amazon, Murphy reported. The analyst continues to expect GoPro's Q4 earnings per share to come in at 34c, versus analysts' consensus estimate of 41c. She slashed her fiscal 2016 EPS estimate for the company to $1.03 from $1.35, versus the consensus outlook of $1.37. Murphy reduced her price target on the stock to $15 from $20 and kept an Underweight rating on the name. WHAT'S NOTABLE: Ambarella (AMBA) makes chips used in GoPro's cameras. Best Buy (BBY), which is due to report its results tomorrow, sells GoPro's cameras. PRICE ACTION: In early trading, GoPro fell 8% to $19.19. Earlier today, it hit a new 52-week low of $19.04.

15:36 EDTITWAirgas deal potentially negative for Lincoln Electric, says RBC Capital
RBC Capital analyst Matthew McConnell Air Liquide's acquisition of Airgas (ARG) opens the possibility that the French company could enter the market for U.S. welding equipment manufacturing, which is currently concentrated with top three players Lincoln Electric (LECO), Illinois Tool Works (ITW) and Colfax (CFX). The firm, which assumes that roughly 8% of Lincoln Electric's total sales go through Airgas, said the merger deal is most relevant for Lincoln, but also potentially negative for the other two. The firm keeps Sector Perform ratings on Lincoln, Illinois Tool and Colfax.

05:29 EDTGEGeneral Electric announces new Renewable Energy business
GE introduced its new Renewable Energy business at the European Wind Energy Association's 2015 Annual Event in Paris. The new unit significantly expands GE's wind portfolio in the wake of its recent acquisition of Alstom's power and grid businesses. The new business expands GE's global wind footprint to more than 30,000 turbines worldwide and significantly increases its presence in regions like Europe and Latin America. In Europe alone, GE's installed base will grow by approximately 50% as a result of the deal. In addition, GE Renewable Energy is welcoming a new offshore wind unit into the portfolio. Featuring new Haliade turbine technology, the offshore business has built a significant backlog of orders with EDF in France and has been selected for the Merkur offshore project in Germany. The Haliade technology will also be featured in the historic Block Island project, which is set to become the first offshore wind farm in the United States. Construction is underway, and the project will begin operation next year. Customers can also expect to see service-related benefits resulting from the acquisition. GE Renewable Energy plans to extend its services capabilities across both existing fleets, with an emphasis on using cutting-edge digital and analytics capabilities to help customers improve productivity and increase power output. Earlier this year, GE launched its Digital Wind Farm, which aims to create a digital infrastructure for the wind industry. The Digital Wind Farm harnesses the analytics power of the GE Store and is powered by Predix, the secure software platform for the Industrial Internet.
