BP (BP) is the cheapest of the world's five oil majors, which include Exxon Mobil (XOM), Chevron (CVX), Royal Dutch Shell (RDS.A), and Total SA (TOT), when measured by market value relative to reserves, earnings, and output and is now seen as a takeover target after selling more than $50B in assets to cover costs related to the 2010 Gulf oil spill, according to a Bloomberg report that cites people familiar with BP's strategic thinking.
