According to sources, BNP Paribas is said to be prepared to plead guilty to criminal charges and pay a fine of $8.9B to state and federal authorities, the New York Times reports. The plea deal, which could be announced on Monday, would be the culmination of an investigation into the bank for transferring billions of dollars on behalf of Sudan and other countries that the U.S. has blacklisted. According to Les Echos, firms offers for the unit, which could value the business at EUR700M-EUR1B, are expected today.
