theflyonthewall.com: Best Buy's founder, chairman sold 500,000 shares, Barron's reports
Best Buy's (BBY) founder and chairman, Richard M. Schulze, sold 500,000 shares for an average price of $43.24 on Nov. 20. After the sale, he held 70.3M shares, a 17% stake, directly, indirectly and through exercisable options. The shares sold were part of Schulze's indirect holdings, a revocable trust of which he is a co-trustee, but which was set up for his own benefit. Shares of Best Buy have risen 24% over the past six months, bouncing back significantly from mid-recession lows, but consumer spending this holiday season is expected to remain weak. Lon Juricic, president of StreetInsider.com, says Schulze's past sales were not indicative of any short-term movement in the stock. "I don't see any major red flag in terms of timing," he says. "But the fortunes of the company are so tied to the consumer that now is probably a good time to sell shares. The gains in the stock are already discounted for the wariness of the consumer. More gains will be hard to come by until the consumer really opens up his wallet." Reference Link :theflyonthewall.com
