Jefferies believes WhatsApp's scale and network effects warrants a higher valuation than BlackBerry's (BBRY) BBM messenger service. The firm notes Facebook's (FB) acquisition of WhatsApp for $42 per user is higher than its BlackBerry base-case valuation estimate for BBM of $30 per user. Jefferies keeps a Hold rating on BlackBerry shares, which are up 61c to $9.62 following the WhatsApp takeover.
