09:06 EDTBAESY, LMTBAE Systems secures production contract for THAAD interceptor seekers
BAE Systems (BAESY) has received initial contract funding in the amount of $81M from Lockheed Martin (LMT) to begin production of 143 infrared seekers for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense weapon system program, designed to defend U.S. and allied soldiers, military assets, and metropolitan areas from ballistic missile attack threats. Lockheed Martin, the THAAD prime contractor and systems integrator, also awarded BAE Systems $5.3M in initial contract funding for tooling and test equipment to increase the monthly production rate of the seeker.

ITT Exelis (XLS) announced it received a $9.4M contract from Lockheed Martin Aeronautics (LMT) to supply the Continuous Wave Illuminator subsystem for the F-16 Fighting Falcon. Deliveries will be completed by December 2014.
