Head budget negotiators Congressman Paul Ryan and Senator Patty Murray presented a two year budget agreement last night, according to Politico. Under the deal fees for airplane passengers will increase, while Pentagon spending will rise by tens of billions of dollars, the website noted. The agreement must still be passed by both houses of Congress and signed by President Obama, who said he supports the deal, the website added. Reference Link

Boeing adjusted slightly the timing for ending C-17 Globemaster III production and closing its Long Beach, Calif., C-17 final assembly facility after a successful two-decade production run of the world's premier airlifter.Based on current market trends and the timing of expected orders, Boeing anticipates completing C-17 production in mid-2015, an adjustment of approximately three months from an initial estimate of late 2015. The company announced plans to end C-17 production in September 2013. Boeing expects inventory–related charges of approximately $50M, which will be recorded in Q1, as a result of this announcement.

Airline stocks are rising in a down market after Goldman Sachs raised its rating on the sector to Attractive from Neutral. WHAT'S NEW: Although airline stocks have already outperformed the market, it's not too late for investors to get involved in the sector, Goldman wrote in a note to investors earlier today. Not yet priced into the stock are higher ticket prices, more crowded planes, and a recovering U.S. consumer, according to the firm. It initiated coverage of American Airlines (AAL) with a Buy rating and upgraded its rating on JetBlue (JBLU) to Neutral from Sell. Goldman kept Buy ratings on Delta (DAL) and United Continental (UAL). PRICE ACTION: In mid-morning trading, American Airlines rose 1.25% to $37, JetBlue added 0.6% to $8.80, Delta gained 2% to $35.30, and United Continental lost 0.5% to $44.65.

Delta Air Lines (DAL) this fall will equip more than 20,000 flight attendants with handheld Nokia (NOK) Lumia 1520 phablets, which will serve as their on-board manual and in-flight sales device as well as a platform for future, more personalized in-flight customer service. SkyWest reported a 2.1% increase in revenue passenger miles for March, while available seat miles decreased 0.5% compared to March 2013. SkyWest also reported that passenger boardings for March decreased 1.2% to 5.21M compared to 5.27M for the same period last year. Load factor increased to 83.3% compared to 81.2% in March 2013. The combined airlines generated 2.7B RPMs for the month, while ASMs decreased to 3.3B. SkyWest also reported a decrease of 5.7% in departures to 120,122 for March compared to 127,353 for the same period last year.
