BAE Systems (BAESY) and Airbus (EADSY) Defense and Space announced a strategic alliance to produce, market, and sell innovative geospatial intelligence products and solutions using satellite data collected exclusively by Airbus Defense and Space’s TerraSAR-X and TanDEM-X radar satellites. Under the terms of the partnership, BAE Systems and Airbus Defense and Space will jointly develop a new line of global synthetic aperture radar products that are unrivalled in terms of accuracy, resolution, and quality. The two companies will exclusively market these jointly developed products to U.S. government, commercial, and select international customers.

Terna has taken delivery of two Airbus Helicopters AS350 B3e rotorcraft to perform surveillance and maintenance support for power lines that deliver electricity throughout the country. These two Ecureuil family helicopters were delivered by Airbus Helicopter’s long term Italian distributor, Aersud Elicotteri, who won Terna’s tender and will retrofit some of the equipment required by the customer. The new aircraft provide Terna with its own resources to conduct airborne operations, enabling the company to provide such services rather than relying on subcontractors.

GE’s Intelligent Platforms business (GE) announced at AUSA that it had received a $2.6M order from BAE Systems Platforms and Services (BAESY) for a quantity of its latest generation 3U VPX COTS Rugged Systems that deliver an advanced HPEC capability. The COTS Rugged Systems will be deployed as part of the US Army’s CETU which sees in-vehicle training and simulation incorporated into the Bradley Fighting Vehicle.
