General Dynamics National Steel and Shipbuilding Co., San Diego, California, is being awarded a $498,116,529 modification to a previously awarded fixed-price-incentive, firm-target contract for the procurement of the detail, design and construction of the fourth Mobile Landing Platform Afloat Forward Staging Base. Work is expected to be completed by March 2018. Fiscal 2014 shipbuilding and conversion contract funds in the amount of $498,116,529 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The Naval Sea Systems Command, Washington, District of Columbia, is the contracting activity.

Boeing Chairman and Chief Executive Jim McNerney announced that the Boeing board of directors increased the company's authorization for its share repurchase plan to $12B and declared that the company's regular quarterly dividend will increase by 25% to 91c per share. The $12B repurchase authorization approved replaces the authorization approved in 2013 of which approximately $4.8B was remaining. Repurchase activity for 2014 is now complete at $6B and is expected to resume in January 2015. Boeing's new dividend represents an 88% increase over the past two years. The dividend declared is payable March 6, 2015, to shareholders of record as of February 13, 2015.

The U.S. Navy awarded Lockheed Martin a $235M contract to continue building MK 41 Vertical Launch Systems with options that, if exercised, would increase the value to $356M. About 270 Electric Boat employees are engaged in the work.This contract was first awarded in December 2012 and has a potential value of $222.3M over five years.

Northrop Grumman announced that its board has elected Kenneth L. Bedingfield, corporate vice president and CFO, effective after the company files its 2014 annual report. Bedingfield will succeed James F. Palmer, who has announced his intention to retire in 2015. The company expects to file its annual report in February 2015, at which time Palmer will continue as a corporate vice president with the company until he retires in the summer of 2015. This will facilitate an orderly transition. Bedingfield joined Northrop Grumman in 2011.
